Manley, Michael (Norman) 1924 - . Jamaican politician. Leader of the socialist People's National Party from 1969, and prime minister 1972-80 and 1989-92. He resigned the premiership because of ill health March 1992 and was succeeded by P J Patterson. Manley left parliament April 1992. His father, Norman Manley (1893-1969), was the founder of the People's National Party and prime minister 1959-62.
